Off The Radar Week One Games To Watch

Week One has plenty of ranked matchup to start of the year, but do not be fooled! These are not the only good games this weekend. The media does not want you to know about the other fun games that will be taking place outside of the precious primetime slots!

Don’t worry I’ve gathered a few games that may off the radar, but are well worth a watch this weekend.

Virginia Tech -13 @ Vanderbilt

It’s simple. Diego Pavia is Fun!

Virginia Tech has potential to be a ACC title contender this year, but a gun slinging Vanderbilt can ruin all of that.

A wise man once said “never fight a man with nothing to lose”.

Vandy has nothing to lose playing an out of conference team week one as huge underdogs. The pressure is all on Virginia Tech to show up. If there was ever a time for Vanderbilt to do something weird and scare a team this season, it’s this game.

South Dakota State @ Oklahoma State -9.5

South Dakota State hasn’t lost a game since week one of 2022 in the infamous 7-3 game vs Iowa. Since then they have won two national titles in FCS and will be gunning for a third this year.

Oklahoma State has also had impressive seasons since then, but has struggled in their openers as of late.

The Cowboys have potential to be a college football playoff team this year, but will face a difficult test from Jack Rabbits this weekend. Do not sleep on the FCS.

Miami OH +2 @ Northwestern

Miami Ohio is the reigning MAC champs and is poised for another strong season. They return QB Brett Gabbert and 4/5 Offensive Linemen. The RedHawks also brought back reigning MAC defensive player of the year Matt Salopek. This team is loaded with talent and experience that will be difficult for more than just their confrence opponents.

Northwestern has been struggling since their hazing scandal and the departure of Pat Fitzgerald. They’re going be playing a strong team in a pop stand stadium on their practice field. This feels like a recipe for disaster with upset potential.

UNLV -2.5 @ Houston

UNLV vs Houston is what happens when the unstoppable force meets the immovable object. Last season these two teams in the past have brought chaos with them everywhere they have gone and I expect more of the same this year.

UNLV avergaed 34.4 ppg last season. Brennan Marion’s “GO-GO” offense is going to be full excitment this year.

It’s will also be the debut of Wille Fritz at Houston. The Cougar offense also has plenty of potential. They return QB Donovan Smith who passed for nearly 3,000 yards last year.

Anything can happen in this game.
