Football is finally here and what a weekend it was. It amazes me that some of you still think you’re too good for week 0. I don’t care if its only a few games with only one ranked team. Those who decided not to watch missed out on a fun start to the College Football season.
Dublin Disaster for the Noles
What great a way to kickoff the College football season with a top 10 upset in the first game. After a dominating first drive that involved some trickery for a two point conversion, the fun came to a complete stop for FSU.
After an off season of complaining about how they got screwed out of the college football playoff last year (I agree if it matters) just to show up and get upset by an unranked team is a tough, tough look.
Not to mention it is a team who is in your conference that you are currently suing so that you can join a new one because you think you’re too good for the conference is double bad.
The narrative is going to be FSU lost more than GT won, but guys like Jamal Haynes deserve all the love. Haynes at times was making it look like FSU was out in the Dublin undergrounds drinking Guinness Friday night.
FSU may be in trouble, or it’s just Week 0 in foreign country and sometimes things are weird. I’m not sure which one yet.
Regardless it’s an all time win for Georgia Tech, that im a little upset didn’t take place in their own stadium.
FCS Statement
Ok sure Montana State was 11 point favorites, and was only leading for a total of ten seconds in this game. And yes, them not covering that 11 point spread cost me some cash, but I still think seeing FCS teams win against FBS teams is fun! New Mexico paid the Bobcats $360,000 just to start the year 0-1!
Montana State was down 17 during the 14th quarter leading a memorable comeback with Touchdown Tommy Mellott.
Also there was a guy mooning the broadcast on the game winning PAT. It’s Week 0 for security too guys.
A win that is really a loss
On the first Saturday of the season we were so close to seeing what could have been the biggest upset of the season.
SMU entered their game against Nevada as 27.5 point favorites and needed some paper thin defense from the Wolfpack in the closing minutes of the game to survive.
Yes, a wins a win. But post game celebrating after sneaking out a last minute win as 27.5 points favorites is weird behavior. This counts as a loss in my book anyway.
Hawaii Test
First Hawaii test of the year started long before midnight on the east coast. Delaware State missed their flight earlier in the week and had to fly out the team on separate commercial flights to get everyone to the island.
It incredible that DSU even made it to the game, but the Hornet looked kinda impressive at times.
Look at Marqui Adams juke guys out of their shoes!
Hawaii football is one of my favorite parts of the college football season. It feels like a badge of honor to be apart of the few who stay up late into the night to watch Hawaii battle it out on the island.
I didn’t wait through the entire off season to go to be early and miss the first does of Schager bombs!!
