Words cannot describe what this championship means to the city of Denver. 47 years of Nuggets Basketball finally results in an NBA championship. From Alex English, to Carmelo, to Now what a ride it has been for Mile High Basketball.
It has felt like Coach Malone has had the Nuggets on a rampage through the NBA since Aaron Gordon’s dunk Christmas day and they never let off the gas.
Which began an unprecedented playoff run for the Nuggets where Jokic had one of the greatest playoff runs of all time. Jokic averaged 30 pts, 13 rbs, and 9.5 ast during the playoffs. He led the playoffs in points, rebounds and assists. Broke the records for single season playoff triple doubles (in the conference finals that was only 4 games). While beating Anthony Edwards, K.A.T, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Lebron James along the way.
Jokic technically doesn’t have All-Star teammates, but they deserve just as much love. Jamal Murray had an all-time season returning from injury. Murray averaged 20,7,5 during the playoffs. Jokic and Murray are the only duo to ever both have a 30 point tripple double in a finals game.
The rest of the team was incredible as well. MPJ, Christian Braun, KCP, Bruce Brown and Aaron Gordon all has signature moments and will be Nuggets legends forever.
What a season. What a team. Denver sports fans will remember this forever. Build a statute of everyone outside Ball Arena.
