The Iowa Hawkeyes picked up their 7th win of the season with a 13-10 win at Minnesota. This is now 4 straight wins for the Hawkeyes.

The train keeps rolling

The Iowa Hawkeyes are a special team to follow. A month ago everyone, including many of their own fans did nothing but ridicule and criticize this team. “Experts” coming onto the internet claiming Iowa wouldn’t even make a bowl game. Now just a short 4 weeks later Iowa is one game away from returning to the Big Ten title. There is obviously one more game left to be played, but the turnaround of this team despite no one believing in them is special.

Defensive showcase

Not to sound like a broken record, but what the defense did in this game was nothing short of immaculate. I don’t care if I say this every week, as long as it’s true I’m going to continue to say it.

Iowa got outgained by 190 yards and still managed to come away with a win while holding the opposing team to just 10 points. Whenever the defense was needed they stepped up and created a play. Forcing fumbles in the endzone, and capped off with a Jack Campbell interception.

They do this week in and week out too. 8 of Iowa’s 11 opponents this season have been held to 10 or less. That is outrageous. Phil Parker should be paid every dollar that Iowa has in its budget.

Here’s the good news though, I don’t care if makes you mad. Neither does Phil Parker, Kirk Ferentz, or anyone on that team. This is how Iowa wins games. It should be studied forever, and I love it.

I know everyone’s got the idea of playing in the Big Ten championship on their minds right now, but there is still one game left. It doesn’t matter what Nebraska’s record is they are always going to show up to give Iowa everything. It’s gonna be a battle either way. I just want us Iowa fans to be careful in not jinxing the team that’s all I’m gonna say. Need all positive energy going into the screen for the rest of the season.
