Denver Broncos Game 5: sickening

The Denver Broncos fell to 2-3 after a disappointing loss to the Colts on Thursday night. The Broncos seem to try to convince fans not to watch every time they appear on primetime as this was one of their worst performances in a while.

Russell Wilson

I was one of the few defenders of Russell Wilson last week but I’m going to be pressed to find a lot of positives from his performance in this game. I get he is dealing with an injury, but what on earth was this pass!

There wasn’t a receiver within a country mile of that one! I don’t get it.

The offense finally felt like it had some life on that last drive of regulation, but it was mainly fueled by running and minimizing the Russ cooking. JUST FOR HIM TO THROW A PICK IN THE ENDZONE.

Even after disappointing me for 60 minutes, I still got my hopes up in overtime just to be fooled again by a disappointing offense. The final play is particularly painful since not only did they line up in shotgun on 4th&1, but Hamler is WIDE OPEN.

I’ll always give Russ a chance. I’m rooting for him to be the guy. A good game next week will win me back, but this was atrocious.

The Season is over. Again

I claimed that the Broncos season was over after the Javonate Williams injury, which was probably a little premature. However, now it feels justified to make this take. When we went out and got an expensive QB the expectations became deep playoff runs and maybe a Superbowl. This current Broncos team would be lucky to even have a chance at the playoffs.

What was already bad is only going to get worse as it starting to feel like a key player is getting injured every week.

The Hackett/Wilson era clearly needs some time to marinate. I’m a believer that in the long term this will work, but this season is just going to be a train wreck.

Next Week

Well, I’m not sure how much it matters, but Denver will head to LA to play the Charger during MNF in week 6. The Broncos have quite the gap between now and kickoff so hopefully, they will take advantage of the extra practice. Expectations will be low, so let’s hope they can meet/exceed them.

Who am I to say the Broncos won’t go out there and play the game of their lives to pull and upset. I won’t put that ceiling on them.
