College Football Week 5 Picks

Last Week 2-2-1

Disclaimer: I’m not an expert. I’m just a fan who likes to watch football and gamble on games. Bet responsibly.

UCLA +3

This game might easily be the least energetic the Rose Bowl has ever been on a Friday night. UCLA’s home atmosphere has been horrible this season. The images of their home games look like Covid flashbacks.

Despite its fans, UCLA is an undervalued program. 4-0 so far with a scare against South Alabama who is also undervalued. Dorian Thompson-Robinson doesn’t get enough praise for being a high-caliber quarterback. I think he will help keep this game close against the Huskies.

Mississippi St -4

I’ve put my faith in Texas A&M for the past few weeks, but now it’s time to fade them. The Bulldogs are a little undervalued in this spot following a recent loss to an LSU team that is beneath them. Will Rodgers is still a strong QB and will perform well in this game to lead the Mississippi St to a win.

Baylor -2

The Big 12 is a huge mess and any team can win at any point. Baylor being ranked lower than Oklahoma State and being favored while hosting at home scream bet on the bears. I expect this game to further the narrative of the Big 12 eating itself as Baylor re-enters the conversation of the Big 12 title.

Ole Miss -7

My biggest critique of Ole Miss has always been their lack of defense, no suddenly this year they have started playing defense. With the number 29 team in overall defense, the rebels look strong. Kentucky on the other hand is a good team, but overrated so far. Their best win is at Florida and I’m still not convinced Florida is great with how up and down they are. This information mixed with custom uniforms for the game has me siding with the Rebels.

Kansas +3

This is a pick of loyalty and nothing else. I will be trusting Kansas until they show me that they can no longer be trusted.

Cal +4

Washington State has looked strong this year. So strong that it’s reasonable to believe they will be overlooking this Cal team. Their next games are @USC, @ Oregon St, and vs Utah. Cal is the only step between them and a gauntlet of games. Cal is too good to be overlooked here and can easily catch Washington State sleeping.

Clemson -6.5

Many are still down on Clemson after their disappointing year last season. Clemson survived a tough test last week against a good Wake Forrest team. In this game, they silenced a lot of critics on the defense. Yes, Wake Forrest’s defense isn’t amazing, but it takes a lot to keep up with Sam Hartman. Seeking revenge in this game after losing to the Wolf Pack last year, I think Clemson will be looking to make a statement at home.
