Cooper Rush is good enough to be QB1

A week ago on episode one of the In the kitchen podcast I was called a fool for making the statement that Cooper Rush could fill the role of a QB1 spot in the NFL. Not even a entire week after making this take Jerry Jones goes infront of the media and admits he’s open to the idea of “QB controversy”.

Now I think Jerry meant that of course he would be open to the idea of Cooper Rush playing as good a Dak (Qb1 in his eyes). However, Cooper Rush followed this up by playing that great game that Jerry was talking about. 21/31 for 215 yards and a touchdown pass.

Cooper Rush is now 3-0 as a starter in his career. 2 of those wins being on the road in primetime. All he has done is prove that he can fufill the role of a starting quarterback.

As he continues to perform well, it opens up the question of “Do the Cowboys considering keeping him in, if he keeps winning?”. In my very humble opinon, I don’t see a reason to pull him until you absolutley need to.

Last year Russell Wilson rushed his way back onto the field after sustaining a hand injury and it was a disaster. Why would they rush Dak Prescott back on the field, when Cooper Rush can go out there for a cheap price and win football game. The next 5 games for the cowboys are vs Commanders , @ the Rams, @ the Eagles, vs the Lions, vs the bears. Based on what we have seen there is no reason to belive Cooper Rush cant win at least 3-4 of those games.

The second question to consider is should other teams be interested in poaching Cooper Rush and getting him on their roster. Once again, I believe the answer is yes.

Take a team like the Commanders. They have Carson Wentz under center currently and it is a nightmare.

If you’re in a QB situation like this, why not take the risk and try to pick up Cooper Rush. Cooper Rush is 28 years old, but doesn’t have the mileage of most Qb’s since he has spent most of his career as a backup. You just don’t have much to lose at this point by giving him a shot to lead your team.

It’s just an idea.
